Setting up PPPoE for Mac OS 10.5

Step 1

  • Click the Apple icon.

  • Choose System Preferences

 

Step 2

  • Click Network

 

Step 3

  • Click Add ( + ) at the bottom of the network connection services list.

  • Note:  If you are removing PPPoE with OS 10.5 or 10.6, just highlight the "PPPoE" item in this list and click the "-" button.

 

Step 4

  • Choose PPPoE from the Interface list.

 

Step 5

  • Pull down the Ethernet list and choose either:
    1. Ethernet if you are plugging into the internet with a cable
    2. Airport if you are connecting wirelessly to the internet.
  • Click Create

 

Step 6

  • In the “Account Name:” field type your username.

  • In the “Password:” field type your password.

  • Check the “Remember this password” box.

  • Check the Show “PPPoE status in menu bar” box.

  • Click Apply

  • If you are connecting by Ethernet, ensure your computer is connected to the wall.

  • If you are connecting wirelessly, Pull down the Airport menu and choose the local Cactus Hotspot.

 

Step 7

  • On the Menu Bar, pull down the <···> menu and click Connec

To remove PPPoe 10.4:

  1. Under the Apple, go to Network Preferences
  2. Click the Network icon
  3. Show either "Built-in Ethernet" or "Airport"
  4. Click the TCP/IP tab
  5. "Configure IPv4:  Using DHCP"
